Pace trainer — say it at the right speed

Why 110–150. It is the band interview boards and audiences find easy to follow — fast enough to hold attention, slow enough to be understood. Below it you sound laboured; above it listeners stop retaining and start bracing. It is a range, not a target: the aim is to sit inside it comfortably, not to hit a number.

Pace against speaking time, not wall-clock. Your session scorecard measures pace only while you are actually voicing, so pauses do not make a fast talker look measured. This page measures wall-clock across the whole reading, so if you pause a lot the two will differ — and that difference is itself worth noticing.
