This service records your voice. That is the whole point of it — you cannot be told how you sound without something listening — but it means we hold a kind of data that deserves a plain explanation rather than a page of boilerplate. This is that explanation.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Audio recordings of your practice answers | To measure pace, pauses, fillers and pitch, so you can play back your own past answers and hear the change, and occasionally reviewed by our own team to check the product is working as intended | 90 days, then deleted automatically. Sooner if you delete it. |
| Transcripts of those recordings | To analyse vocabulary, grammar and structure, and to show you the quoted evidence behind each observation | 90 days, alongside the recording |
| Your analysis results — scores, evidence, recommendations | To show your last five sessions and whether you are improving | 90 days |
| Your email address and name, from Google sign-in | To keep your sessions yours and let you sign back in | Until you ask us to delete your account |
| An estimate of vocal pitch range | Aggregate product statistics only — see below | 90 days, with the session |
We do not collect your date of birth, address, phone number, payment details (there are no payments yet), or any government identifier. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics, and we do not run trackers on this site.
Alongside the delivery signals, the system derives a rough gender estimate from the median fundamental frequency of your voice. It is used only to count, in aggregate, who is using the product, so that we know which users to build for. It is never shown to you, never shown to anyone else, never attached to your visible profile, and never used to change your score or your recommendations. Low-confidence estimates are discarded rather than guessed at.
It is an inference from pitch, not a fact about you, and pitch is a poor proxy for gender. If you would rather it did not exist for your account, email us and we will strip it from your sessions.
Speech-to-text for the pace tool runs on our own server, so that audio never leaves our infrastructure at all.
You can delete any session yourself. Open your sessions, and use Delete on any entry. That removes both the recording and the analysis from storage immediately — it is not a hidden flag, the objects are gone.
To delete your whole account, including your email address and every session at once, email contact@howyoutalk.com from the address you signed in with. We will confirm within 7 days.
Everything expires on its own regardless: an S3 lifecycle rule deletes stored sessions 90 days after they are written, whether or not you ask.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or tell you who we have shared it with. Write to the address below and we will answer within 30 days. If you are unhappy with the answer you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Questions, complaints and deletion requests all go to the same place: contact@howyoutalk.com, Prakritvi Innovations, India. We aim to acknowledge within 48 hours and resolve within 30 days.
This service is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly create accounts for children, and we do not have a parental-consent process. If you are under 18, please do not sign in. If you believe a child has an account here, email us and we will delete it and its recordings.
The site is served over HTTPS. Your session cookie is signed, httponly and
secure, so it cannot be read or forged by scripts in your browser. Stored objects are
private and reachable only through short-lived links issued to you after you sign in. The analysis
service is not exposed to the internet directly.
If we start charging, add a payment processor, or begin collecting something not listed above, this page changes first and the date at the top changes with it.
